Henry duPont landed and signed the Pitcairn Register March 18, 1928. He flew an unidentified Buhl aircraft. He was known to own Buhl NC303. Chances are good this was the airplane he brought through Willow Grove. He was based at Wilmington, DE. He left no record of his passengers or his destination.

As well as being one of the premier United States corporate families since 1802, the duPont family gave patronage, service, prizes and records to the aviation community of their time. They were major boosters of the art and science of aviation. Henry Belin was probably the most supportive of the developing aviation infrastructure in the U.S. He was well-known for supporting education and public works. An excellent book about the duPont family is this REFERENCE.

Besides his single landing at Willow Grove, duPont also signed the Parks Airport Register once on Saturday December 27, 1930. He also signed the Register at the Davis-Monthan Airfield three times during 1927-28. None of the flights through Tucson seemed to correlate with his visit at Willow Grove, except he was flying his Buhl NC303.

Henry Belin duPont's biography is online at the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register Web site at the link. Please direct your browser to his link to learn that two other members of his family, A. Felix duPont, Jr. and Alice duPont, also signed the Tucson Register.
